K, I agree, the aloe vera straight from the plant is wonderful, and probably absolutely the best way to apply it. When my children were home, now they’re older and have flown the coop, I use to keep a bottle of aloe that I purchased from the healthfood store, in the fridge. In the summer, when they didn’t listen to me and caught too much sun, it was a blessing to be able to take the cool aloe and apply it to their sunburned skin. It would take the stink away immediately and they didn’t blister. I am a potter, and at one time burned my hand on my kiln (talk about a burn, whew!) Anyway, I took a leaf from my aloe vera plant and used that…..it was really quite wonderful. I had no blister, which really surprised me, and the healing was fairly rapid, considering the severity of the burn. You do have to keep applying it though.
I’ve read the both ginko biloba and feverfew, two nutritional supplements, are good for short term memory. Both are supposed to bring additional oxygen to the brain. You can find a good deal of information on both. Good luck. b

Response:

>Are there any supplements and/or drugs that aid short term memory loss. >This is not Alzheimer’s related but age is a factor. Any information would >you prefer. >Thanks much, >Steve Freeman

Along with the Herbal Remedies suggested, you may want to consider the role that stress may be playing (or a low grade depression) with regards to short term memory loss. Stress can be a "little monster" that carts off thoughts … things you need to remember. I know you requested "drugs"specifically, but you may want to consider some alternatives ie. Aromatherapy. For example, Pure Essential Oil of Rosemary, Peppermint, and several other oils do play a significant role in providing mental stimulation and memory enhancement. The role of our sense of smell and memory has been clearly and scientifically documented. Another alternative that you might want to consider would be REGULAR practicing of meditation, specifically with the intent of paying attention to your thoughts, just letting them happen in the "silence" of your mind, noting them, and then letting them go. Later, after your meditation, noting what thoughts came into your mind as you were trying "not to think of anything, clearing your mind of all thoughts". This may be beneficial in finding out what the mind is being preoccupied with. If you have any questions, please email. Wishing you Health, Hope, and Peace of Mind Susan

Response:

The supplements which really helped me with short term memory and memory in general were to combine Brain III formula (vegetarian) pills that you can get at any health food store. It seems to provide the base of amino acids and etc for the proper functioning that synergistically interacts with piracetam whi9ch I have taken for over five years now. I must say, I do notice the improvement since then and definitely notice a slowing down when I stop taking it. I get my piracetam from Mexico, but I am sure that you probably can get it from one of the smart drug www. sites, as well. If you really need more blood supply to the neuronal pathways then I suggest that you add in Hydergine, but, I tend to get headaches from too much blood flow if I use it daily. So, I confine my usage of HGydregine just to when I give major public speeches and need definite quick thinking between the hemispheres. Good Luck with your memory! Barbara
